Wedding planning was in full swing at Brookside Golf Course & Country Club’s Wedding Show Weekend. This event brought together local bakeries, photographers, officiants, decorators and stylists to help couples plan the wedding of their dreams. Despite the varied services offered, the one theme that stood out was customization. Brides and grooms are looking to design an event unlike anyone else’s with personalized touches and hand curated items.

Bakeries like Merengue, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Vanilla Bake Shop offer couples an array of cake flavors and customized decorations. Nothing Bundt Cake’s signature buttercream cheese frosting drizzle icing is a popular choice while Bundlets are a great option for bridal showers. Vanilla Bake Shop’ popular flavors include Southern Red Velvet, Vanilla Lemon Berry and Fleur de Sel and cakes can be designed to each couple’s specifications with fun add-ons like edible sparkles and macarons.

For decorations and flowers, couples can choose from traditional roses or opt for more whimsical arrangements of wildflowers and greenery. Linen and drapery rentals also play a large part in making a space into a wedding venue. Barbie from Linens by Celina explains that couples should book a year in advance to ensure enough time to order custom draperies and table clothes. She adds that glitz is in for this season and corals and navy tones are popular for summer weddings.

Tux

Although a lot of fuss is made over bridal gowns, groom’s tuxedos are important too. Taylor at Friar Tux Shop says that grooms should order at least three months in advance. This season, charcoal gray, cobalt blue and mahogany are popular hues and many grooms’ jackets have black lapels which match their groomsmans’ black jackets. Unlike with wedding dresses, there is no taboo about the bride seeing her fiance’s tux before the wedding.

officiant

After all the fun details like the DJ, cake and photographer are arranged, someone has to officiate the ceremony. Great Officiants offers Non-Denominational, Ministers, Clergy, Reverends, Pastors, Rabbis, Priests, Pundits, Justice of the Peace and Civil Officiants, all of whom can create custom ceremonies. Couples can write their own vows and work with the officiant of their choice to create a unique ceremony.

Wedding Show Weekend offered couples a selection of vendors to help make their dreams come true with their own personal style.
