Eliot Arts Magnet Academy received 20 guitars last month from musician Keith Urban in support of the middle school’s growing Modern Band program, Pasadena Unified officials said.
Urban donated the guitars through Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, whose ongoing partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District has supported the expansion of secondary music programs.
PUSD’s Modern Band – or rock band — program is growing, thanks to the support of organizations like Mr. Holland’s Opus and Little Kids Rock, the organization that trains public school teachers and donates all of the instruments, curricular resources and support they need to ensure that their kids receive the right to rock.
