The Junior League of Pasadena, Inc. (JLP) will hold the first of three Prospective Member Open Houses on Saturday, August 9, 2014, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the League’s headquarters. Women from the Pasadena area and beyond, interested in membership and learning about the League’s legacy of leadership and service in the community are welcome to attend.

Prospective members will be introduced to the League’s mission: to develop the potential of women, improve communities and promote voluntarism, along with learning what community impact current members are making in the greater Pasadena area.

“The Junior League of Pasadena gives women an opportunity to make an impact to better our community while continuing the 88 year legacy of our League,” stated Carolyn Cota, JLP 2014-15 Provisional Committee Chair. “Each new member is given the opportunity to learn new skills and be educated on the social issues facing our community today; while being able to share her current skills to help make an impact within the League and community. Not only does the League provide great training opportunities, but is also a chance to make lifelong friends and develop each women’s potential. The exciting first year is capped off with the “Kids in the Kitchen” signature project, which aims to educate youth about healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition and physical fitness therefore preventing obesity and its associated health risks.”

In addition to a hands-on experience in contributing to community causes, League members receive training in leadership and advocacy skills, management, marketing and communication skills. The Junior League of Pasadena encourages all women who are interested in joining to attend the open houses to learn more about becoming a part of its community.
