The veranda at the Shakespeare Clubhouse was bedecked with twinkle lights and decorated pumpkins for the “Harvest Moon” reception welcoming prospective members on November 5th. Rebecca Harris, Club Membership Chair and her committee provided an lovely setting for members and guests to mingle and enjoy wine and cheese appetizers. During the past summer months there were several fun events held that was hosted by Social Activities Chair, Janet Beggs and her committee that included potluck dinners at members homes and concerts in the parks of local communities. The “Harvest Moon Reception” was followed by a regular Club business meeting in the ballroom with a musical program by The South Pasadena High School Jazz Band, led by Director, Howard Crawford. Club Member, Christine Tam Malasta, was the featured soloist and her husband Sean accompanied on the drums. New members are accepted year round to the club but the summer and fall season, with the many receptions and parties held, provides the perfect opportunity for members to invite interested friends and guests to the Club.

The Shakespeare Club has had a long history of various philanthropic endeavors benefitting many charities in Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley. In addition to the many social and philanthropic opportunities the club has to offer, members can participate in Broadway Musicals presented as an annual Club Benefit/Fund-Raiser. Next spring, the Club will be presenting the Broadway Musical “Nunsense” in March 2015 with Rikki Lugo as the director/choreographer for up-coming show.
