Genre-defying harpist, Bridget Kibbey, will join the ranks of Camerata Pacifica’s Principal Artists; a notable collection of musicians that includes; Nicholas Daniel, oboe; Jose Franch Ballester, clarinet; Richard O’Neill, viola; Ani Aznavoorian, cello; Ji Hye Jung, percussion and Warren Jones, piano.

Camerata Pacifica audiences were dazzled by Ms. Kibbey’s artistry in the 12/13 season. “Bridget has redefined how I think of the harp,” said Camerata Artistic Director Adrian Spence, “I couldn’t wait to invite her to join our ensemble. While she easily performs standard classical repertoire, given half a chance you’ll find her at the boundaries crossing into the jazz, folk or anything that captures her interest, and there establishing her own territory.”

Camerata Pacifica’s October program celebrates Ms. Kibbey’s Principal appointment and her wide-ranging musical personality. From her own arrangement of Bach’s famous D Minor Toccata & Fugue to Benjamin Britten’s Lachrymae (with violist Richard O’Neill), to the world premiere of a new work by Ian Wilson written for Ms. Kibbey. Mr. O’Neill & Adrian Spence (flute), her program also includes works she commissioned from Katie Agócs, Paquito D’Rivera & David Bruce and an unusual arrangement of a piece by Jose Benito Barros.

Audiences throughout the Southland will experience an evening of music and musicianship to be remembered.
