A student debater of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy made it to the semi-final round of the Damus Hollywood Invitational on the weekend of November 2 to 3.

Maddie Collins ’16 is the top four among more than 60 varsity-level debaters around the western United States who joined the tournament.

Meanwhile, novice debater Alexandra Tighe ’17 was the Lincoln/Douglas Champion among all first-year debaters at the recent Damien Debates. She also won the 3rd Place Speaker Award.

The Speech and Debate Team is set to compete for the first time at a Novice/JV League Tournament this weekend. Many of the novice speech students are boarding students who do not speak English as a first language.

Varsity debaters Collins, Sarah Burrola ’16 and Maddy Sturma ’15 are scheduled to compete at the Glenbrooks Invitational outside of Chicago on the next weekend.
