Pasadena’s mainstream plant-based vegan restaurant is kicking up their drink menu. Real Food Daily has been a staple of macrobiotic influenced vegan cuisine for over twenty years and debuted a new fall menu plus selection of mixed sake drinks this week.

Julie Sell, manager at Real Food Daily Pasadena, explained that the addition of sake and saketini cocktails is consistent with the restaurant’s focus on the Eastern tradition of macrobiotic food.

The Coconut Saketini cocktail combines Sho Chiku Bai Nama Organic Sake with Harmless Harvest coconut water and fresh mint for a refreshing herbal drink. Their second cocktail, the Gingersnap Saketini, features Clover Gingersnap juice with a hint of organic sake.

The Clover cold-pressed juices are replacing Real Food Daily’s previous menu of fresh pressed juices and smoothies. If you’re not a fan of sake, it may be better to stick with Real Food Daily’s selection of beer and wine – their Italian Pinot Grigio is new for Fall and the Eel River IPA is a year-round favorite. If you’re in the mood for something a little different, try the raw, probiotic hard cider from 101 Cider House – think of it as a cross between hard cider and kombucha.

Pair these new drinks with items from Real Food Daily’s new fall menu. These seasonal selections include a mix of sweet and savory dishes like The Essence, Harvest Quesadillas filled with black beans, caramelized onions and butternut squash and Indian-inspired Curry Cakes made of cauliflower and chickpeas, served with a tamarind sauce and jalapeno coconut cashew cream.

The impressive Essence entree tastes like a precursor to Thanksgiving and features – a portobello cap stuffed with rosemary forbidden rice, sunflower seeds and apple. This centerpiece comes with peppered cauliflower mash topped with brussels sprouts, candied walnuts and a pomegranate seed garnish.

The sweet and savory Harvest Quesadillas are a seasonal update to their popular Caribbean Quesadillas and come with a side of guacamole and drizzle of cilantro sauce. Finally, the tangy tempeh Reuben with sauerkraut, horseradish cashew cheese and thousand island dressing rounds out the seasonal fall selections.

These comforting dishes are packed with fall flavors and spices like brussel sprouts, candied walnuts and reimagined cauliflower. Look out for Real Food Daily’s pumpkin pie and Thanksgiving meal coming soon.

“We balance health and happiness,” said Sell. Real Food Daily’s entirely vegan menu includes ultra-healthy selections like the Basic Bowl as well as decadent chocolate pudding and loaded Not-chos.
