Roys_Q3_2015 _02 Hawaiin Snapper_0106If you’ve ever been lucky enough to visit Hawaii, you know how it can leave a lasting impression. The lush jungles, the crystal clear beaches, the friendly faces and fresh, delicious food all make Hawaii one of the incredibly idyllic places on Earth.

The internationally acclaimed Roy’s restaurant is well aware of the island’s wonders. Opened in Honolulu in 1988 by Chef Roy Yamaguchi, the franchise has now expanded stateside to twenty different locations nationwide including six in Hawaii and one location as far as Japan.

Chief Yamaguchi has always been known for his Hawaiian cuisine creations. As a James Beard Award winner, Roy has always wanted to incorporate bold flavours from the Pacific on to the plates of diners, and his restaurant does just that.

Inspired by the Hawaiian Islands and his Japanese roots, using bold flavours and unique ingredients in his food, the restaurant is showcasing a new prix fixe menu for the summer that will take diners on a culinary tour of Hawaii—without ever having to leave city limits.

Roy’s Restaurant prides itself on bringing only fresh ingredients and new ideas directly from the Island straight to the plates of their guests, giving you the authentic Hawaiian experience.

The new Hawaiian inspired menu will include a choice of Heirloom Tomato Salad or Shrimp Shumal; Pan-Seared Hawaiian Opakapaka featuring baby squash, shiso, tomato and vadouvan carrot purée, or the Kona Coffee-Crusted Pork and Kauai Prawns with honshimeji mushrooms and bok choy; and for dessert, a White Chocolate Tart and sorbet.

The dinner is $39.95 per person and will only be available until the end of September. We’ll be trying the menu ourselves, so stay tuned for photos and our take on these special summer dishes.

Roy’s Restaurant is located at 641 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena. For more information, call (626) 356-4066 or visit www.roysrestaurant.com/locations/ca/pasadena.
