Little has changed for the 2016 Lexus ES 350, just a bit of a facelift and optional bi-LED headlights. What remains the same is the ES 350’s appeal as a fully-loaded midsized luxury ride.
The 2016 Lexus ES 350 is a midsize luxury sedan that seats five people.
Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, three driver-adjustable drive settings, LED headlights, running lights and foglights, sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, heated mirrors, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, eight-way power front seats, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, perforated premium vinyl upholstery, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rearview camera and Safety Connect emergency communications. Also standard is the Display Audio interface, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, Siri Eyes Free, and an eight-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, HD radio, auxiliary audio jack and iPod/USB audio interface.
There are many options available on the ES 350 including the Navigation package and Premium package (both included on my test vehicle). Stand-alone options are often a required purchase with certain packages like 18-inch wheels, upgraded bi-LED headlights, a blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning system, front and rear parking sensors.
A 3.5-liter V6 delivers 268 horses and 248 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic trany and front wheel drive are standard. Mileage estimates are good at 21/city, 31/highway, and 24/combined mpg.
In government crash testing, the ES 350 earned a perfect five-star rating for its overall performance, with five stars for total frontal-crash protection and side crash protection.
On the inside the ES 350 is all about comfort, with plenty of legroom for front as well as backseat passengers. The cabin is modern and fully-loaded with luxury touches of wood throughout. A large trunk offers an ample 15.2 cubic feet. The back seats do not fold down but there is a pass through for longer items.
Driving the ES 350 is a dream with plenty of power from the V6 engine and steering that is tight and true. The cabin is remarkably silent and road bumps are barely felt.
