First let me put it out there; this is the most beautiful paint job on a car I’ve seen in a while. It’s called Black/Forest Green and in the sun it shines with a green very close to the old Jaguar green. A picture does not do it justice.
Since the complete redesign in 2015, the Chrysler 200 comes into 2016 with a few little adjustments like the new 90th Anniversary package and a rearview camera now available on Limited models.
Both inside and out the 200 is a looker with an attractive and user-friendly interior and elegant exterior. When paired with the optional 3.6-liter, V6 engine, it really packs a wallop.
The 2016 Chrysler 200 is a five-passenger midsize sedan that comes in four trim levels: LX, Limited, S and C. This review will focus on the 200 Limited Platinum trim.
The 200 Limited adds the Uconnect package (Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and a 5-inch touchscreen display for the audio system ), along with alloy wheels, a rearview camera, a compass and a six-speaker sound system to the LX package of 17-inch steel wheels, keyless ignition and entry, air-conditioning, cruise control, automatic headlights, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, manually height-adjustable front seats, a 60/40-split folding rear seat and a four-speaker sound system with a USB interface and an auxiliary audio jack.
Also included on my test model was the Limited Platinum Package of leather-trimmed bucket seats, heated front seats, 6-way power passenger seat, power 8-way driver seat, power 4-way driver lumbar adjust, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and auto-dimming rearview mirror with microphone.
A nine-speed automatic transmission was paired with the optional 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivered 295 horses with 262 pound-feet of torque. Put the car into the Sport mode and the engine and transmission responses sharpen up and become more sports-like. Mileage estimates are 19/city, 32/highway and 23/combined mpg.
In government crash tests the Chrysler 200 scored five stars across the board for Overall, Frontal Crash, and Side Crash tests.
On the inside the Chrysler 200 shines with a modern vibe. From the useful and well thought out USB port that routes power cords to a handy shelf in the center console, to the optional 8.4-inch infotainment interface, this interior was designed for use, comfort, and looks.
Seating is comfortable with firm seating and plenty of legroom in the front seats and plenty of legroom for all but 6-footers in the rear. The trunk hold plenty at 16 cubic feet with more when the rear seats are folded down.
The V6 combines the best of both worlds with a quite ride at cruise speeds but a throaty rumble when you hit the gas. Cruising the highway is a delight and steering is tight.
When looking for a midsize sedan with looks and charm give the 2016 Chrysler 200 Limited Platinum a test drive.
