The all-new for 2015 Chevrolet City Express LT is a small work van for those that don’t require a full-sized van and want better gas mileage.
The 2015 Chevrolet City Express is a compact cargo van that comes in two basic trim levels: LS and LT. This review will focus on the LT trim level.
The LT comes standard with power door locks, heated power mirrors, keyless entry, rear 12-volt power outlet and rear parking sensors in addition to the base trim levels equipment of: 15-inch steel wheels, 40/60-split rear cargo doors, sliding rear side doors, power front windows, cloth and vinyl upholstery, a height-adjustable driver seat, a fold-flat passenger seat, a tilt-only steering wheel, air-conditioning and a two-speaker sound system with a CD player and auxiliary audio jack.
Also available on the LS and LT and included on my model are the Glass package which adds rear privacy glass to the rear- and passenger-side windows, as well as a rearview mirror and rear defroster. The Appearance package adds wheel covers, a chrome grille and body-color bumpers, mirrors and door handles.
Also available on the LT trim only and also on my test vehicle is the Technology package which adds a 5.8-inch touchscreen display, a navigation system, satellite radio, a USB audio jack, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and a rearview camera.
With a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine the car will pull 131 horses and 139 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a continuously variable transmission expect to get 24/city, 26/highway and 25/combined mpg.
Since the City Express is a “cargo van” the interior has lots of tie-downs and plenty of mounting points to install shelves. The passenger-side seat actually folds down to create a work space or to add length to the storage capacity. Cargo capacity is good with 122.7 cubic feet and a maximum payload of 1500 pounds.
The beauty of the City Express is in its agility and maneuverability. It has a tight turning radius and is easy to park. Cornering is secure and it can shoe horn its self into tight spaces.
When looking for a cargo van that will negotiate city streets better than a full-sized cargo van, the 2015 Chevrolet City Express LT will fit the bill.
