Very little has changed with the Chevy Impala 2LT since the 2014 revamp except for new 4G data connection and WiFi hotspot capability for all trim levels.
If you are on the look out for a large sedan you couldn’t ask for more than the 2015 Impala 2LT. With it’s rakish good looks, stylish interior and ample trunk, the Impala is all a large sedan shopper could want.
The 2015 Chevrolet Impala is offered in LS, LT and LTZ trim levels. The LT and LTZ are further divided into 1LT and 2LT, and 1LTZ and 2LTZ sub-trims. The 1 designates a four-cylinder and the 2 designates a six-cylinder engine. This review will focus in the 2LT trim level.
The 2LT comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and the MyLink infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, voice controls, Bluetooth audio connectivity, three USB ports, an SD card slot, HD radio, Internet radio smartphone app compatibility and voice-to-text messaging capability for certain smartphones.
This is in addition to the base equipment of automatic headlights, keyless entry, cruise control, air-conditioning, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, full power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a trip computer, OnStar emergency communications with 4G WiFi capability, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio.
There are also options available on the LT package all of which were included on my test model. The Convenience package includes rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, remote ignition and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a universal garage door opener. The Advanced Safety package adds a forward collision warning system, a lane-departure warning system, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring. The Premium Seating package gets you synthetic suede upholstery, heated front seats and an eight-way power front passenger seat. With the Premium Audio and Sport Wheels package, the Impala includes 19-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, ambient interior lighting, a 120-volt power outlet and an 11-speaker Bose sound system. Finally, the Navigation package adds navigation to MyLink and also includes keyless ignition and entry. A sunroof is also an option for the Impala LT and was included on my model.
The 2LT Impala model that I tested was powered by a 3.6-liter, V6 engine that outputs 305 horses and 264 pound-feet of torque. With a six-speed automatic trany and front-wheel drive the Impala 2LT gets an estimated 18/city, 28/highway and 21/combined mpg.
The Impala received a perfect score of five stars in overall crash protection in government crash testing. Another five stars was awarded for total frontal-impact and side-impact collisions.
The Impala 2LT has a great heart to go with its pretty face. The interior of the Impala is all you could want in a large sedan and more with plenty of room fore and aft and comfortable seating for even taller passengers. Technology interfaces are easy to see and use with easy to see graphics and an easy to use touchscreen and the overall appearance of the interior is quality.
The trunk has plenty of space at 18.8 cubic-feet with the seats up but with the 60/40 split seats down it expands to even more.
In the V6 Impala you’ll be able to zip past slower moving traffic with ease. For all its power the interior remains quiet with little noise from the road. Cornering is what you’d expect from a full-sized sedan and the ride is smooth.
There are a lot of choices in the full-sized sedan market some good and some mediocre. The 2015 Chevrolet Impala 2LT is firmly on the good side.
