In an event that celebrates beauty in all its forms, PHAMExpo (Professional Hair and Makeup Expo) is gearing up to be one the most anticipated beauty shows of the year to be held at the Pasadena Convention Center on June 29 and 30.
However, except for the most ardent of fans, not all are aware of what exactly PHAMExpo is all about. We talked to PHAMExpo president Cheryl Morill on what to expect at the event.
“This is a show that encompasses all things beauty,” says Morrill. One of the activities in store for guests will be guest Educators Scott Barnes and Frank Galasso who are know to provide hair & makeup to such clients as Kim Kardashian, Kate Hudson and Jennifer Lopez. Shop the brands hollywood celebrities use such as; Make Up For Ever, Bobbie Brown, Stila, Smashbox, Lime Crime and Too Faced Cosmetics and shop the stores that hollywood celebrities shop at such as Naimie’s Beauty Center, Frend’s Beauty Supply, Nigel’s Beauty Emporium and Cinema Secrets all under ONE roof.
Education is the Key to this event, with over 50 guest educators you will learn what it takes to be a Beauty Professional or just shop like one. There will also be a nail panel, which is a “panel of nail technicians that specializes in nail art” and will talk about the popularity of not just mani/ pedi , but of resurgence of nail art, says Morrill.
Make-up artists and movie fans will also appreciate the participation of Cinema Secrets. “It’s been around in Hollywood forever as their make-up supplier. Maurice Stein will educate you how to use your makeup to cover all types of skin discoloration,” Morrill explains.
Famed MAC Cosmetics will also have its own workshops throughout the weekend that will tackle ” the make up arts and creating perfect skin-tones and things like that,” adds Morrill.
There will also be social panels where top bloggers in the area will come and discuss the latest in the hair and make-up industry.
Morrill tells us that the expo will have “everything & anything that has to do with beauty. Whether you want to learn how to get into the business or just show up and shop celebrity makeup lines at deeply discounted prices, the show is open to the public.
Of course, aside from the panels, seminars and workshops, PHAMExpo wouldn’t be a true beauty fair without shopping. Morrill says that shopping will be great and many high profile brand and products will be for sale at the event, with massive discounts you won’t find anywhere else.
But in the end, Morrill says that the most important things one can get out of the expo are the “opportunities for anybody to come and learn secret tricks & tips that top makeup artist use on their celebrity clients. I want people to have those aha moments where they say, I could do that.'”
Price of admission will be $45 for a one-day pass, and $70 for the two-day pass. There are discounts for students, press, beauty professionals and industrial professionals for those who register prior to the show.
