For Pasadena realtor Rosey Bell, it all comes down to details, whether the client is a brand-new buyer, or in the twilight of their years.

Bell has been recently specializing in dealing with the elderly. Her most recent listing and sale was referred to her by an associate, attorney Jim Doughtery, from one of his clients who was disabled, and who couldn’t have any participation in the sale of the house.

Bell listed the home, maneuvered her way through 20 offers, selected the right one, and is now actually in process of cleaning the house out for him.

“We listed the house for 505,000 and sold it for 561,800,” Bell told Pasadena Now.

And then there are all the remaining details, she said.

“He’s got a car in the driveway that has no pink slip and a LoJack on but he has no key to the LoJack,” so she is taking care of that issue as well.

The client also owned a large collection of books, taking up space in the soon-to be emptied home. Bell took the books to an antique book dealer, who subsequently made an offer on the collection.

Bell not only works well with the elderly but also finds herself these days as “pretty much of a full service agent for these kinds of listings.”

And of course, the tasks with such a client range from the major to the mundane.

“He doesn’t even have e-mail,” Bell recalled. She works diligently to get his signatures on documents and keep him updated on every aspect of the home sale.

Bell is the first to admit that this client may be an exceptional case, but says, I would just like those in this field—an estate lawyer perhaps— to know that “This girl is somebody I could call, and then I wouldn’t have to worry about it.”
