Freelance artist Caitlin Lainoff leads a nontraditional painting workshop on Saturday, January 7, at the Pasadena Museum of California Art located at 490 E. Union Street in Pasadena.
Inspired by the abstract energy of the works in the Lloyd Hamrol and Joan Perlman exhibition, “A Sky in the Palm of a Hand,” which is ongoing at the PMCA until February, Lainoff will guide participants through creating a painting using squeegees, rollers, and palette knives to lay-in and remove paint on a variety of surfaces, such as Vellum, Yupo, fabric, and Plexiglas.
Lainoff is a freelance designer who designs sets for film and theater. Educated in scenic design, puppetry and theater, Lainoff has a Master’s in Fine Arts degree from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.
The workshop, which runs from 2 to 4 p.m., is appropriate for ages 15 and up.
Tickets are $25 to $35. Register online through www.bit.ly/pmcaworkshops.
