Fall Registration 2013 for returning students will be conducted entirely online through the SPUSD Parent Portal. Parents of 6th grade students will need to show proof of residency and parents of 7th grade students will be need to show verification of the TDAP vaccination with the instructions below. All items needed for official school purposes (with the exception of proof of residency and TDAP vaccination) will be included in the online process starting Aug. 5.
• Register Online: Go to myspusd.net (no www) and complete the process using the Parent Portal. If you are new to the process or forgot how, instructions will be available on the website starting Aug. 5. The portal will be open starting Aug. 5 and the process should take no longer than ½ hour. Additional instructions are available on the school website at www.tigerstripe.org.
• Student Supply Orders: If you wish to purchase locks, agendas, gym clothes or a yearbook (please note that these items are not mandatory and you may provide your own) – please fill out the Order Form included in the PTA packet that was mailed to your home and have your student return it with payment to their PE class on Tuesday, Aug. 27 or Wednesday, Aug. 28 depending on their schedule. Items will be handed out during PE on the same day. You can also purchase these items at the PTA Back to School Bash on Friday, Aug. 16 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Also, please refer to the Recommended Supply List on the back of this letter.
• Student Schedules: will be handled out on the day before school, Aug. 21. Students first period class will be posted on the cafeteria window and they will receive the rest of their schedule in first period on the first day of school, Wednesday, Aug. 22. There will be a phone message and email sent out when the schedules are ready.
6th grade residency verification: SPUSD requires proof of residency for all incoming 6th grade students. The School Office will be open from July 29 to Aug. 2 (see schedule below) to verify residency. Please bring (One from each category):
1. Category A – deed of trust, mortgage payment receipt, rental/lease agreement listing all names of occupants and the name, address, phone number and signature of landlord/management company. Also, a property tax bill or closing escrow papers.
2. Category B – utility bill (example: So. California Edison, The Gas Company), telephone/cell phone bill, Time Warner cable bill – dated within the past month.
3. Category C – current car registration, car insurance statement, health insurance statement, bank statement (or signed letter on bank letterhead with the South Pasadena address), or pay stub that shows the current South Pasadena address
6th grade residency verification Hours:
• Monday (July 29): 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
• Tuesday (July 30): 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Wednesday (July 31): 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
• Thursday (Aug. 1): 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Friday (Aug. 2): 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
7th grade TDAP proof of vaccination: If you have not already done so, please bring your TDAP information into the office (as of this writing, there are only 48 students who have not shown proof.) State law requires that all students entering 7th through 12th grades must have the TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Acellular Pertussis) vaccine or a new waiver form before attending classes. If you do not provide documentation of having met this requirement, your child will not be allowed to attend classes. You can show proof during the 6th grade residency verification times listed above.
The SPMS office will be closed for Summer Break from July 1 to Aug. 1 but will open July 29 to Aug. 2 for 6th grade residency verification and TDAP verification. Please contact the SPMS office starting August 1st if you have any questions.
