Friends of South Pasadena Library’s Restoration Concert Series will feature the artistry of Tien-Hsin Cindy Wu – violin and Artist in Residence of the Da Camera Society of Los Angeles, Michelle Gasworth (viola), Ross Gasworth (cello), and Ines Irawati (piano); performing Bridge: Phantasy for Piano Quartet H.94, Mozart: Piano Quartet in G minor K478, and Schumann: Piano Quartet in E flat Op.47 on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
Tien Hsin Cindy Wu enjoys a versatile career as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Wu has collaborated in concert with artists as Teddy Abrahms, Gary Graffman, Kim Kashkashian, Ida Kavafian, Midori, Thomas Quasthoff, Yuja Wang, and members of the Alban Berg, Brentano, Cleveland, Guarneri, Miró, Orion, and Tokyo string quartets at prominent venues as the Kennedy Centery, Library of Congress, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and festivals as the La Jolla Summerfest, Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, Mainly Mozart, and the Marlboro Music Festival. She has also collaborated as a guest violist with the Dover Quartet, Formosa Quartet, Orion Quartet, and Trio Cavatina.
Michelle Gasworth – viola – Regularly records for major motion picture soundtracks and is a core ensemble member of Definiens. She has also performed regularly with the Dallas Symphony, appears on notable chamber music series such as the South Bay Chamber Music Society, and has presented master classes at Drake University. She earned her Bachelor and Master Arts degree in viola performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Ross Gasworth – cello – Mr. Gasworth has concertized and taught throughout the U.S., Asia and Europe; performed as a soloist with the Rochester Symphony, the Birmingham-Bloomfield Symphony, etc.; as well as symphonies in San Diego, Houston, etc.; and major music festivals in the United States. Since 2012, he has been a member of the award-winning Trio Celeste, Ensemble in Residence at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, University of California, Irvine. Mr. Gasworth began playing the cello at age three and earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He performs on a 2005 cello by William Whedbee.
Ines Irawati – piano – Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, Ms. Irawati began piano and composition instruction at age six. As a performer and composer, she and her compositions have been performed in Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tokyo, and the United States. She has her Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music and her Master’s degree from Yale.
The Sunday Concerts will be held at 4:00 p.m., at the South Pasadena Public Library Community Room (1115 El Centro Street, South Pasadena). Season ticket price: 8 concerts for $96. At the door when space permits is $20 for individual concerts.
