We’ve been talking seasonal pumpkin spice lattes for quite awhile now but the newest pourable pumpkin drink isn’t one that could help you through your morning commute. This darling cocktail takes fall’s hottest gourd to a whole new level.

White Horse lounge, a cozy bar and restaurant on De Lacy Avenue, is home to a master mixologist who doesn’t mind taking a few risks behind the bar. Brian Brewer has been working in restaurants since he was 15 and says he “fell in love with bartending.” This is his first year at White Horse but he’s been adding custom mixes to seasonal cocktail menu since he started in February.

Brewer’s cocktails are free of refined sugars and he makes all his reductions and syrups in house. White Horse focuses on craft cocktails but also has pumpkin beer on tap.

This season, White Horse is debuting The Basic B cocktail at their 3-day Halloween celebration at the end of the month. Until then, the cocktail will be available on the VIP’s Secret Menu. This cool glass of pumpkin goodness features Elysian Pumpkin Ale reduction, Cutty Sark Prohibition Whiskey, heavy cream, cinnamon and nutmeg. This creamy cocktail goes down easy and finishes with a delightful pumpkin flavor.

The Basic B cocktail will only be available until November, when Brewer will debut a Spiced Apple Cocktail. “I’m trying to create something different, not just what everyone else has,” he said.

White Horse is located at 41 S. De Lacey Ave., Pasadena. Call (626) 583-9013 or visit whitehorsepasadena.com for more information.
