Planet Fitness, a gym known for featuring “judgement-free” gym environment, where anyone can be comfortable and bullying is banned, has opened a mini-Planet Fitness gym at the Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena.
The project is part of the company’s Judgement Free Generation, Planet Fitness’ philanthropic initiative designed to combat the judgement and bullying that can occur among young people.
Planet Fitness teamed up with a leading anti-bullying organization, STOMP Out Bullying, and the Boys and Girls Club of America, in launching the Judgement Free Generation Initiative that includes putting fitness gyms like this one recently opened in Pasadena.
Jessica Correa, Planet Fitness SVP, said under the initiative, enrolment fees paid by new gym members will be donated to its Judgement Free Generation partners, BGCA and STOMP Out Bullying.
“From November 9th through the 16th, we are offering a sale where for $10 down and $10 a month, 100 percent of that $10 enrolment is donated to help support the Boys and Girls Club of America and STOMP out bullying,” Correa said on ExtraTV.
In the gym’s Judgement Free zone, kids can use the facility without having to feel insecure and bullied as they exercise.
“We believe in creating a space where kids can come and workout and be accepted,” Correa continues. “It’s a great way for them to take a step towards living a healthy life.”
Since the initiative was launched, STOMP Out Bullying has been able to reach out and extended their resources to more than 4,000 boys and girls across the country. The initiative also has been able to train BGCA staff on creating positive, judgement-free environments for children.
Under the arrangement, BGCA will get the first $500,000 raised out of the initiative, and two-thirds of any additional dollars raised. One-third of additional funds raised will be donated to STOMP Out Bullying.
