With the threat of a pumpkin shortage looming on the horizon, now is the time to indulge in some pumpkin goodness before it’s too late. The glorious pumpkin has had a tough growing season and experts predict that supplies of the glowing gourd will barely last until Thanksgiving. In addition to stocking up on canned pumpkin, you can satisfy your taste for pumpkins through a straw.

Pumpkin Spice Lattes are practically synonymous with fall, so it only makes sense to sip your fill before the season ends. Instead of visiting a coffee chain, make friends with your local baristas and pick up a pumpkin-pick-me-up at a local coffee shop.

Copa Vida, on South Raymond Avenue, just rolled out its collection of pumpkin drinks this Saturday. Their menu includes Pumpkin Spice Chai, Apple Cinnamon Chai and Pumpkin Cappuccino as well as the standard Pumpkin Spice Latte.

PS 1st Half

The recipes are exclusive Copa Vida concoctions and each drink relies on a special blend of house-made ingredients. The Pumpkin Spice Latte rivals all other variations and has a house-made pumpkin sugar syrup base and topped with a generous dusting of cinnamon.

But the real winner is the Fall Cappuccino, an espresso with maple syrup and house-made vanilla bean infused milk. This cup o’ joy is finished with freshly grated nutmeg. In this season of pumpkin spice, tea lovers can feel a little left out.

Luckily, Copa Vida makes a mean Pumpkin Spice Chai using their signature chai tea and pumpkin spice syrup; it’s also available iced for those lovely California fall days. To round out the menu, Copa Vida offers an Apple Spice Tea Latte. While it’s not technically pumpkin spice, this treat taste like Fall in a cup; it beings with a special chai blend and ends with milk, maple syrup and zesty nutmeg.

No one knows how long the pumpkins will last or how long Copa Vida will keep dishing out these fall favorites. Pick-your-own pumpkin beverage before the season gourds away.
