The Pasadena High School class of ‘76 got together for the reunion of a decade at the Rose Bowl on October 15. The three day event started with golf with Michael Dennis, Jimmy Wilkes – two former NFL players and 76 classmates – including Kenny Ellison, Barbara Butler, Chuck and Terry Colton and Debbie Johannes, the reunion chair.
In the spirit of reuniting old friends, classmates celebrated the passing of forty years with a Friday night “kick off” cocktail party at the Brookside Country Club Patio with old tunes, dancing, food, cheer and laughter.
Saturday began with an impressive reunion at the Rose Bowl with a group of 207 PHS classmates and the much beloved former PHS teachers, Phyllis Jenkins, Ned Sutro, Thelma Reyna, Tom Vournas, and John Work. The reunion weekend concluded with Sunday brunch and mariachi music at Mijares restaurant.
The reunion was made possible by the “Vintage ’76 Reunion Committee” who donated countless hours of time to make sure this fortieth reunion would be a remarkable event that no one would soon forget. “Epic” to quote a committee member. Classmates traveled as far as New Zealand to participate.
According to committee members, the aim for the fortieth class reunion was to re-establish a prideful sense of belonging in the Pasadena community which hosts so many cherished memories of good times gone by.
