Here’s some good news for all the vegans out there: There is a new restaurant on the block, serving a wide array of delicious vegan dishes and desserts even non-vegans will love. One Veg World, open since 2004 in West Covina, will officially open in Pasadena on May 30th but is currently in their soft opening.

This restaurant is committed to whipping up delicious plant-based cuisine in a casual dining atmosphere. Their menu shows versatility and variety—diners can choose from American, Hispanic, and even Pan-Asian-inspired dishes.

But One Veg World is seriously not just for vegans.

Try not to drool while reading on:

For an appetizer, the crispy, battered cauliflower covered with hot buffalo sauce sound like the perfect healthy alternative to chicken hot wings.

Another starter, the Thai dumplings—crispy dumplings stuffed with spinach, cabbage, jicama, carrots, wood ear mushroom—are just like the meat-filled kind but suitable for anyone at the table.

For dinner, do you like some spice? Try the Spicy Lemongrass sautéed Tofu or Chickun (and no, that’s not a typo).  It’s an Asian-inspired dish with a caramelized sauce using minced lemongrass and chili that’s totally vegan but totally yummy.

There’s also good old stand by’s, like the One Veg World burger, which uses a vegan patty (with all ingredients listed on the menu…no mystery soy patties here!) and all the classic burger fixin’s, or a list of clever pizza combos.

For those unacquainted with vegan cuisine, you might think that main courses are the hardest to successfully create.  On the contrary: baked goods heavily rely on age-old chemistry that’s based on using ingredients like eggs, milk, and butter.

Recently, though, some brave kitchen chemists have discovered vegan alternatives that mimic the textures we crave from our favorite desserts.  One Veg World has caught on and proudly offers items like cupcakes, cheesecakes, and something called the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, which will make any chocolate lover’s knees weak.

With a selection to fit anyone’s tastes and diet, One Veg World should be a popular upcoming spot in town.  We’d love to hear your reviews and reactions, so comment below or on our Facebook page with any pictures.  We know we’ll be visiting soon!
