Maranatha High School recently held their annual gala – this year a Tasting and Show. The Tasting on the Ambassador Fountain Plaza at their campus was hosted by the Patina Group restaurants, Kendall’s Brasserie, Nick & Stef’s Steakhouse, and Café Pinot, as well as their very own Minuteman Café Chef and crew. Over 300 people came out for the tasting of flat iron steak, ceviche, BBQ pork, wedge sald, crème brulee and more.

Immediately after, over 700 guests filled the Ambassador Auditorium to enjoy “The Show”, bringing to the stage performances by a variety of artists. Linda “Peaches” Tavani, who sold over 9 million records with the Grammy-nominated duo “Peaches & Herb”, headlined the event. The audience was thrilled to witness Herb Fame make a special guest appearance to sing their smash hit “Reunited” and “Shake Your Groove Thing” and see them reunite for the first time in 30 years!

The showcase of talent continued with the iconic 1950’s chart-topping recording and television artist, Pat Boone. The lineup also included entertaining performances by artists such as the MUV Dance group, made up of the top dancers in Los Angeles from television’s America’s Best Dance Crew, America’s Got Talent, and the movie Step Up Revolution, the Kamikaze Fireflies, seen on The Tonight Show, and musicians from the Colburn School of Music. There was truly something for everyone!

Maranatha’s Parent Association organized the fundraiser to start a Professional Development Fund at Maranatha for their faculty and staff. Dr. Gyertson, Maranatha’s Headmaster noted, “The professionalism of every act was superb. The staging and execution of the evening was energetic, uplifting and engaging.” Dr. Purghart, the principal, added, ““It was such a celebration of life and love, all in glory to God.”
