Local pie shop, Knowreality pie, took the cake at KCRW’s pie contest. They walked away with three out of six awards and also placed in last year’s contest.
Tracy DeVore, the founder and baker of Knowreality Pies, attributes her success to real ingredients and a crust recipe she adapted from her mother’s. In addition to this flaky, buttery melt-in-your-mouth crust, her pies are brimming with unique flavors like Triple Berry Cabernet and good, old fashioned Chicken Pot Pie.
Knowreality Pie won First Place in the Fruit Category with Berries Gone Wild and also placed first in the Sweet Potato Pie Category with the decadent Maple Espresso Sweet Potato Cornbread Pie. They also placed third in the Cuban World Category with their special Salted Caramel Mango Rum pie.
“Pie has always been around but it’s hard to find good pie. Our pie, it’s hard to describe…it’s real pie,” said DeVore.
