The traditions of Diwali continues here in Pasadena for eager diners at New Delhi Palace Indian Restaurant as preparations are underway for the annual festival of lights.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with various desserts traditionally served during the five-day celebration.

“There are lots of sweets,” owner Ron Singh told Pasadena Now. “There’ll be an Indian carrot cake, Gulab Jamun and custard pudding,”

Gulan Jamun, in particular, is served during special events like marriages and major Muslim festivals. This delectable dessert is made by combining milk solids and flour. The mixture is shaped into tiny balls which are deep fried and then soaked in a light sugar syrup flavored with green cardamom and rosewater, kewra or saffron.

To balance off this saccharine rich snack, other popular Indian food such as Chicken Tikka Masala, pickled vegetables, fruits like mangoes, Rack of Lamb, and other seasonal vegetables, like okra, are all on the menu for the celebration- or just for an every day lunch!

Buffet is changed daily but you can expect the best in Indian cuisine with their extensive menu that truly reflects the exotic flavors of India.
