Frida Tacos has opened a second location in Pasadena, this time just outside the gates of Pasadena City College.
Frida Tacos Campus Village offers the same menu as its first location at 36 West Colorado in Old Pasadena and adds a venue for an affordable Mexican lunch or snacks for the college community.
The branch becomes the fifth Frida Tacos casual taqueria from the time founder Vicente del Rio established the first Frida Restaurant in Beverly Hills in 2002 and followed up with another full-service location as Westwood Village in Los Angeles. There are two Frida Tacos locations in Los Angeles and one in Santa Monica.
Operating hours at the Campus Village branch are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Taco specialties include soft tacos and crispy tacos with your choice of meat, burritos, sope and tortas.
Breakfast fare can be a choice of burritos, huevos con chorizo (scrambled eggs with Mexican sausage and refried beans), huevos divorciados (two over-easy eggs topped with red and green salsa and served with refried beans), or the classic Mexican breakfast chilaquiles verdes (crispy tortillas with green or red sauce, topped with shredded chicken and queso fresco, served with refried beans).
Meat and vegetable choices include pollo asado (grilled chicken), carne asada (grilled beef), barbacoa (slow-cooked beef), carnitas (roast pork), pastor (marinated pork), pollo con mole (chicken with chili-chocolate sauce), conchinita pibil (slow-roasted pork marinated in citrus juice), and sautéed vegetables.
Frida Tacos Campus Village is at 1731 E Colorado Blvd., (626) 666-6966.
The Frimex Group also offers large-scale Frida catering service and the annual Taste of Mexico event which celebrates the finest Mexican chefs in Los Angeles county.
