Hundreds of San Rafael Elementary School students will see the magic of Christmas in one of the most beautiful and world renowned holiday productions this week. For many, it will be their first time seeing a live performance and will be an experience of a lifetime.
San Rafael Elementary School’s entire student body, teachers and staff will board buses and attend “Hot Chocolate Nutcracker Tea Party” at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Friday, December 16 to celebrate community and unity.
These are students who once attended a school that was slated to close because of earthquake faults, but now it’s thriving more than ever, officials say.
Aside from being a sought-out Dual Language Immersion Program in Spanish, San Rafael Elementary School prides itself on its diversity and inclusion of cultures and languages.
The entire school will be attending this event, something that that has never before been seen or done before, thanks to our highly involved PTA and school principal, Rudy Ramirez.
A press release said “this is a great opportunity for the students to look beyond the recent political disparity and come together as a community to celebrate diversity and unity through theater. ”
Students will be boarding buses for the performance at 8:00 a.m., which will be a great opportunity to interview students, parents and staff. Hot chocolate will be served in the morning by the 5th graders that will be dressed up as mice.
