Contessa Italian Home Collection and Food Collection bring a little piece of Italy to South Lake Avenue. Owner, Luisa Fabbri, has been importing goods from Italy for over 20 years.
Contessa Home Collection has been open since 1998 but is closing its doors later this month. This shift will allow Fabbri to focus her attention on Contessa Food Collection and their charming café. She encourages patrons to try new foods, get acquainted with ancient grains and enjoy meal without technology.
Fabbri also shares her passion for sustainable, whole food through private gastronomical trips to Italy. These small tours allow people to learn more about the history of olive oil, ancient grains and Italian food culture while experiencing the country.
Contessa Food Collection is already known for their extensive selection of high quality olive oils, sundried vegetables and ancient grain pastas. Fabbri has been importing olio Nuevo, or new olive oil, for 11 years and is looking forward to this year’s first crop as well.
This holiday season, look out for their first shipment of ancient grain panettone which will be flown in near the end of November. This holiday cake will come in limoncello, traditional, olive oil, dark chocolate & orange, gianduia & coffee and dark chocolate and fleur de sel.
As Fabbri said in Contessa’s e-newsletter announcement, “arrivederci is not goodbye,” Contessa lives on.
Contessa is located at 380 South Lake Avenue, #111 in the Burlington Arcade, Pasadena. Call (626) 793-7761 or visit www.contessachocolates.com for more details.
