Community Bank recently awarded 28 scholarships to the children and grandchildren of Bank employees. This is the third consecutive year since the program was reinstated. The number of recipients has steadily increased from seven in the first year and 22 in the second year to the 28 recipients in 2016.
“As Charlie Cook’s great granddaughter and a previous recipient of the Cook Brothers Scholarship, I am pleased with the success of our re-launched program for our Community Bank family. This year, we were thrilled by the overwhelming interest and participation in the 2016 program and were pleased to have 13 repeat recipients of the Cook Brothers scholarship. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Bank’s shareholders, we are excited about the future of the program and are committed to continue to grow the scholarship program for many years to come,” said Kristen Stovesand, Community Bank Board of Directors.
“Charlie and Howard Cook, who founded the Bank 70 years ago, believed in the importance of education and provided scholarships to children and grandchildren of employees. Three years ago we brought back this program and each year we have awarded more scholarships then the prior year,” said David R. Misch, Chief Executive Officer of Community Bank.
