After many years of anticipation, the Clairbourn Library renovation is now a reality, and we couldn’t be happier. Our library, built in 1986, has finally received a “new engine.” It is essential that our school re-commit itself to what is essentially the home of literacy at Clairbourn. Our library has opened windows to the world for countless students, eager for information and reading adventures. It is only fitting that we rededicate ourselves to keeping this resource up-to-date and well-equipped for young minds to utilize.

On January 29th, 2016, we will host a reception at the library where parents and students can get a closer look at the renovation. They will see new lighting, carpeting, paint, bookcases, a new service counter, a whole new office and kitchenette, and much more. Inside the library, a special middle school section has been created to focus on books, magazines, and other resources of special interest to older students along with a dedicated computer counter with high-speed connections for quick access to information and ideas. An interest area has been designed for the younger students where books can be shared aloud and where visiting authors and guests can interact with students one-on-one. Outside the library, a totally new reading patio has been designed to encourage students to explore books in a more relaxed setting.

Adjacent to the library, a new custom-made storage building has been added for supplies and materials that previously were housed inside the library space. This alone has freed up a significant amount of floor space that will be used for reading and instruction.

Related to the Library Renovation Project is the new David Orndorff Conference Room designed to provide additional classroom and conference/meeting space. This room, located in the Administration Building, includes kitchenette facilities and will be used by the library, the Clairbourn Families Association, and by groups of 10-25 people. The opening of the David Orndorff Conference Room is expected sometime in February.

All-in-all, we couldn’t be more excited. Thank you for your support of our school.
