While anxiously awaiting the sixth season of Game of Thrones (which premieres on April 17) kick back with a Thrones themed beer.
Umami Burger is serving up the Ommegang Game of Thrones Series: Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale for a limited time. This beer combines traditional Belgian-style wheat and a hop-forward American ale for a refreshingly hoppy brew.
This beer undoubtedly pairs well with Umami’s many burger creations but it’s true match may be the Cali Burger with butter lettuce, roasted tomato, caramelized onion, house spread and Cali cheese. Like all of Umami’s multilayered creations, this burger is a balance between sweet and savory (or umami in Japanese). Although it traditionally comes with a beef patty, feel free to make it vegetarian by substituting a black bean burger or portabella cap.
Or opt for the Truffle Burger which comes with truffled aioli, house truffle cheese and truffle glaze or the classic Umami Burger with Parmesan frico, shiitake mushroom, roasted tomato, caramelized onions and Umami ketchup.
Don’t forget the classic, skinny cut truffle fries with chives and melted truffle cheese. These crispy fries pair well with the Umami ketchup which comes in a trio of dips. The Cheesy Tots – which aren’t on their online menu – are a crispy, close second to the Truffle Fries.
If you have room for dessert, choose from four CoolHaus ice cream sandwiches. The Cara-Mia Lehrer sandwiches salted caramel ice cream between two snickerdoodle cookies – it comes frozen to perfection – the perfect temperature to take a bite of. This creamy dessert provides a nice contrast to the hoppy beer and is the perfect way to end any meal.
Any way you enjoy it, this beer-burger-ice-cream pairing is a winner and a fantastic way to kill time before season six airs.
