Acclaimed chamber music ensemble Camerata Pacifica returns in March featuring two of the great Romantic composers, Robert Schumann and Antonin Dvorák, in works both grand and intimate. The program opens with Schumann’s gorgeous Fantasy Pieces for Clarinet & Piano, Op. 73. Performed by Principal Clarinetist José Franch-Ballester and Principal Pianist Warren Jones, Schumann’s three-movement piece is alternately reflective, turbulent, and dramatic, in keeping with the Romantic ethos.

The American composer Eric Ewazen, known for his luminous wind writing, joins the program with Ballade, Pastoral and Dance; one critic describes it as a “world of expression.” Scored for horn, flute, and piano, it is performed by Principal Horn Martin Owen, Artistic Director Adrian Spence, and Jones.

David Jolley’s arrangement of Dvo?ák’s monumental Sextet for Piano & Winds in A Major, Op. 81 closes the program in a stunning arrangement for woodwind quintet and piano. Bassoonist Peter Kolkay and oboist Robert Atherholt join the ensemble.
