Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) students took first, second and third place in five categories at the 2016 Building Industry Association (BIA) of Southern California’s Architectural Design and Model Building Contest on May 11.
The students who are studying either Architecture, Construction & Engineering (ACE) or Integrated Design, Engineering & Architecture (IDEA) at the Tech competed against students from several local high schools. Bosco Tech students swept the following competition categories: Residential Technical, Residential Creative, Commercial Technical, Commercial Creative, and Structural Division for Bridges.
“We’re extremely proud of our hard working students and the results they are achieving,” said Bosco Tech President Xavier Jimenez. “Our engineering and architectural technology programs stress real-world application and feasibility in the design process. We firmly believe this is partly why students go on to experience success in their university studies and their professions.”
Celebrating its sixtieth year, Bosco Tech is an all-male Catholic high school that combines a rigorous college-preparatory program with a technology-focused education. With a 100 percent college acceptance rate each year, more than 60 percent of Bosco Tech graduates pursue STEM-related majors in their university studies.
