17yranniv.posterBikram Yoga Pasadena is celebrating 17 years of offering health, healing and wellness. Unlike other fitness fads that come and go, Bikram Yoga Pasadena has stood the test of time by helping people live, feel and look better since 1998. Studio owner Val Sklar Robinson moved to Pasadena in 1998 to open her studio and has since made Pasadena her home with her husband of 12 years and two little girls.

Bikram Yoga is a beginning class. It is for everyone willing to come and try. Sklar Robinson tells everyone that you are “never too old, never too sick, and it’s never too late to start feeling better by starting a Bikram hot yoga practice.”

Many people are intimidated by the heat but once you adjust to that, many people fall in love with the practice. “We have an amazing community of folks supporting each other whether they are healing from an injury, or training for a triathlon, everyone is welcome,” said Sklar Robinson.

They have come a long way since they started in 1998. Initially offering just 16 classes a week, they currently offer 36 classes on the schedule with new offerings in the works. In addition to the traditional 90 minute Bikram Yoga class, Bikram Pasadena now offers a 60 minute “power hour” class, and workshops that include YogiVal’s Preteen Yoga for girls and Core, Plank and Arm Balance Prep classes.

In addition, long time teacher, Jeffrey Rangel, also offers special classes in Yin Yoga and a special BikPas Intermediate class. “We’ve expanded our offerings to the community so that we can reach more people, more age groups, and more demographics to offer the life changing benefits of yoga practice,” said Sklar Robinson.

Sklar Robinson plans to expand the “power hour” schedule even more in January 2016 and add a YogiVal Stretching and Strengthening class for teen athletes (boys and girls ages 10-18). She also hopes to expand these classes into the local schools and sports programs to teach kids better connection and alignment principles to improve performance and reduce sports injuries.

Join Bikram Yoga Pasadena and help them celebrate their 17th anniversary and toast to your health. Small bites, wine, and cheese will be available and a local living marketplace will be open for you to peruse. The party is this Saturday November 7th from 5:00-7:30 p.m.

Bikram Yoga is located at 2089 E. Colorado Boulevard Pasadena. Call (626) 304-YOGA (9642) or visit www.bikrampasadena.com.
