The Aveson Center for Independent Study (ACIS) is holding several upcoming orientations for homeschooling parents interested in homeschool partnerships. The first orientation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 1:00 p.m. at Aveson School of Leaders, 1919 E. Pinecrest Drive, in Altadena, California. Other orientation days can be found at http://www.aveson.org/asl/orientation-dates. Parents interested in attending an ACIS orientation should RSVP to [email protected].
ACIS was created by Aveson Charter Schools and serves children in kindergarten through fifth grade. It is a hybrid homeschool program that combines home-based learning with school-site instruction. ACIS gives students the opportunity to receive the benefits of individualized instruction at home while attending one day a week school-site instruction at school for social and academic enrichment.
The ACIS program also gives students the opportunity to benefit from Aveson Charter Schools’ three core tenants of personalized mastery learning, healthy living and social leadership.
“The Aveson Center of Independent Study provides truly personalized mastery learning,” said ACIS Director, Debbie Carraway. “Scholars grow and learn at their own pace, explore who they are as individuals, collaborate within the home study community and gain confidence in the greater community.”
Carraway also pointed out that ACIS is a great benefit to homeschooling parents. ACIS advisors provide direct support for parent educators and all ACIS participants receive financial stipends to purchase necessary materials and supplies for their child’s homeschool experience.
