A new year, a new departure. We’re sorry to announce that Pasadena’s McCormick and Schmick’s has closed up shop.

Of course, that means now we can get excited about what is going to take it’s place.

Alexander’s Steakhouse, opening their doors this spring, will be bringing a delightful and unforgettable upscale dining experience to the Pasadena community.

Known for its fine dining interpretation of the classic American steakhouse with a hint of Japanese influence throughout the menu, Alexander’s Steakhouse has garnered followers in their locations in Cupertino and San Francisco, with their variety of beef, from domestic classic cuts to imported wagyu, and an extensive and ever-growing wine list.

The restaurant has been awarded the AAA Four Diamond Award and recognized by the Distinguished Restaurants of North America for 7 years, and have also held the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence consecutively from 2008 to 2013. Most impressively, though, Alexander’s was given a One Michelin Star rating from 2011 to 2013.

Clients who are already familiar with Alexander’s Steakhouse will be glad to know that the much-loved corn fed certified Angus, 28 day dry aged steaks, and American beef, along with their excellent range of wines and spirits, are coming to Pasadena. The restaurant also offers seafood such as oysters, scallops, salmon, lobster, and crab, among others.

Executive Chef Derek Biazo heads the Cupertino location, where guests can enjoy caviar for starters. The menu also features “The Original” Hamachi shot for starters, soups and salads, C.A.B. split-bone ribeye and strip steak and a range of wagyu, and various sides to go with your piece of heavenly beef goodness.

The San Francisco location is headed by Executive Chef Marc Zimmerman, whose menu boasts of steaks and roasts, dry-aged Greater Omaha prime, wagyu, and a range of sides that include wild mushrooms, schichimi fries, and blue lake beans, among others.

“We are transferring some of our staff from our San Francisco location over there to run the kitchen,” Marilyn Skinner of Alexander’s Steakhouse said of the upcoming location.

Guests should expect the same luxurious ambience and décor as the other branches as well. “The design team is heading the whole remodel,” Skinners says. “It should be just along the same lines as our steakhouses in the Bay Area, so it would be really nice.”
