Hundreds of Pasadena-area residents took advantage of the opportunity to simultaneously enjoy an exquisite meal while raising money for youngsters in need as part of Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services’ annual fundraiser—Dinners from the Heart. The event ran from Feb. 23 through Feb. 25, during which time some 200 caring community members dined at one of more than two-dozen superb-dining establishments that took part in Dinners from the Heart.
All proceeds from the dinners—which ranged from $75 to $175—will help fund Hathaway-Sycamores’ comprehensive continuum of therapeutic and other support services for children, young adults and families. Dinners from the Heart raised more than $37,000 this year, which marked the event’s 25th anniversary. Since its inception in 1991, Dinners from the Heart has raised more than $815,000.
“We are tremendously grateful for the generous support of the caring community members who participated in Dinners from the Heart,” said Hathaway-Sycamores’ President and CEO Debbie Manners. “The money raised enables us to create real opportunities for a brighter future for the children, young adults and families we serve.” Manners added a special thanks for Dinners from the Heart 2016 event co-chairs: The Los Altos Auxiliary; as well as Bob and Gregg Smith of Smith Brothers Restaurant Corporation and their participating restaurants Arroyo Chop House, Parkway Grill, Smitty’s Grill, and Seco New American.
This year’s event also featured several private group dinners with keynote-caliber guests, including: Chef Claud Beltran from Claud & Co. Eatery & Bacchus Kitchen; Sam Farmer, Los Angeles Times’ NFL columnist; and Tracy Holczer author of The Secret Hum of a Daisy.
