After exploring the varied and diverse sights that the Golden State has to offer with three “Road Trip” exhibitions last year, the California Art Club kicks off the 2016 exhibitions at its gallery at The Old Mill by looking beyond the state’s boundaries with Traversing the Globe.

On view from January 12 to May 15, Traversing the Globe showcases nearly 40 works that transport the viewer to faraway lands to take in exotic scenery and architectural wonders. A reception with the participating artists will be held on Thursday, January 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The featured paintings showcase imagery of some of the world’s most famous cities, quaint countrysides, breathtaking coastlines and awe-inspiring landmarks, including the Great Wall of China and La Fontaine Medicis in Paris.

“Artists – and particularly plein air painters – need to feed their sense of wanderlust, so travel that allows them to explore the unfamiliar is both adventurous and inspiring,” says Madeleine Aguilar, exhibitions coordinator for the Club. “We are delighted to present this exhibition so our artists can share glimpses of captivating images that they have discovered around the world,” she adds.

All the exhibiting artists are members of the century-old California Art Club, one of the nation’s oldest, largest and most active fine arts organization.

All works are available for acquisition, and the proceeds benefit the educational programs of the California Art Club and the Old Mill Foundation. After the opening of the exhibition at the Old Mill, which is located at 1120 Old Mill Road in San Marino, the artwork may be viewed online at californiaartclub.org.
