Friends In Deed returned to Castle Green on September 16, 2015 for its annual gala fundraiser, Jazz on the Green. From 6:00 to 9:30 p.m., guests experienced the smooth jazz sounds of The Michael Haggins Quartet and the Ryan McDiarmid Trio while perusing silent auction opportunities offered by local businesses and community friends. Guests also enjoyed complimentary martinis, fine wine, beer, and delicious hors d’oeuvres.
This year’s honorees were Celia Leaver for individual Community Service, Century Housing as Corporate Partner, and Pasadena Methodist Foundation as Community Partner. Each honoree has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the needs of the Pasadena community and been a valued supporter of Friends In Deed’s mission and programs over the years.
Friends In Deed, a social services agency in Pasadena operating for over 121 years focuses on homeless prevention and family support services, with the goal of placing people in permanent housing. It also operates the Bad Weather Shelter, Food Pantry, The Women’s Room (a day program for homeless women) and Norma’s Nook, a “store” where homeless and disadvantaged people can “shop” for needed clothes at no charge.
