The University of the West welcomes Dr. Peter M. Rojcewicz as their new Chief Academic Officer.
Formerly Vice President of Academic Affairs at Antioch University in Seattle, Dr. Peter M. Rojcewicz started his duty as Chief Academic Officer on June 10th, 2015.
An experienced teacher in executive leadership, he has also taught Analytical Psychology at the C.G. Jung Foundation, though Dr. Peter M. Rojcewicz describes himself as a folklorist.
“I’m a Doctor in folklore and folk life which is basically a specialized area of Cultural Anthropology that studies indigenous folk wisdom systems, particularly focused on folk narratives, fairy tales, myths, and legends. I also study belief systems.”
Dr. Peter M. Rojcewicz believes it is one thing to hold an MBA in Cultural Anthropology, but quite another to be teaching Buddhist values, and he believes this is what makes the University of the West as unique as it is. He believes that the University is on point with global needs.
His role as the faculty chair, he explains, is teaching students to understand the human practice of Buddhism. Living it intentionally, knowingly and applying it in their daily lives, at home and in the workplace, and teaching students to have goals that benefit the community. He is specific in recognizing that Buddhism is about relationships, it is selfless.
Dr. Peter M. Rojcewicz says he chose University of the West because he is lucky and fortunate enough to be in a position in his career where he can make profound and meaningful goals in his life.
“I choose to be at University of the West because the faculty who are engaged in the world, who are engaged in how the inner man and outer man or woman come together. And so I see this as the grand experiment of all experiments in human development and soul making, both personal and community wise.”
Seeing this all as a grand experiment for him and the wider world, Dr. Peter M. Rojcewicz believes this is ongoing work for us all, but we must first start small and his role as Chief Academic Officer is just part of a grander piece of the puzzle.
