St. Monica Academy, an independent co-ed Catholic school, founded in 2001 for grades 1-12, has just moved from Pasadena to Montrose. In March of this year, St. Monica reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Archdiocese and Holy Redeemer Parish to move St. Monica Academy to the Holy Redeemer campus beginning July 2015. St. Monica’s steady growth in student enrollment has made a larger campus necessary for its twelve grades.
Father Ed Dover, the Pastor of Holy Redeemer, celebrated a Welcome Mass for the St. Monica community on March 26th. After the Mass, Fr. Ed and the parish community of Holy Redeemer hosted a reception and tour of the campus facilities.
St. Monica follows a classical curriculum of study, based on the Great Books and the Socratic Method. It is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. In 2012 it was recognized by the Cardinal Newman Society as one of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools in the United States. In 2014 it won the national School of Excellence Award from the same Newman Society. For more information about St. Monica Academy, go to www.stmonicaacademy.com or call (818) 369-7310.
