Crowds lining the parade route for this year’s Sierra Madre 4th of July Parade will be entertained in style by Gooden School student band members. The fifth through eighth-grade students will play patriotic tunes as they march the 1.3 miles of the route, lead by Gooden band leader and music teacher Nadya Ewen.
Gooden school families will follow the band in the parade on foot, in wagons, on decorated tricycles, bicycles and scooters. “It’s a lot of fun for our students, their families and parade watchers alike,” said Ewen.
A small town event that brings Norman Rockwell to mind, the Sierra Madre parade committee touts the parade on its website as “an annual tradition that is an integral part of the Sierra Madre community. The hometown parade features community members, organizations, classic cars, (The Gooden School) marching band, kids on decorated bikes and more.”
The parade will take place from 10 am – 12 noon, Saturday, July 4. The 1.3 mile route begins at the corner of Sierra Madre Blvd. and Sunnyside Avenue, and will travel the length of Sierra Madre Blvd. to Sierra Vista Park, in Sierra Madre.
