“Friendship, Fashion and Tea”, was the theme selected by Shakespeare Club Philanthropy Chairman Monica Forgey and her Committee for this year’s Benefit Fashion Show Tea held on April 25th at the Club’s Villa on Grand Ave in Pasadena. Club Members and Guests enjoyed boutique shopping with the many vendors set up in the villa and on the patio prior to the show. The Marshall Fundamental High School Jazz Band entertained guests as they shopped and visited during the friendship and shopping time. Despite the ominous looking clouds and forecasts of rain, the weather held until after the show started inside the villa.

The dining room tables were adorned with flower filled teapots and a delicious afternoon tea was served by Cynthia Brooks Distinctive Catering, of Pasadena. Club President, Barbara Sakuma welcomed the 120 guests and introduced, Monica Forgey, Philanthropy and Fashion Show Chairman. She introduced and thanked her committee and the many guests for attending. She welcomed Karen Crisei of “Magnolia’s” of Monrovia who presented the fashions for the show. A variety of outfits and accessories for day, travel and evening were modeled by Shakespeare Club Members and Guitarist Michael McMahon of the Maestros provided the music during the show. The many raffle and opportunity prizes were announced during and after the show. The proceeds from this event enable the Club to award deserving high school seniors in the Pasadena Unified School District scholarships toward higher education. This marks the 61st year of the Shakespeare Club’s college scholarship grants. The Club will be recognizing and awarding scholarships to 8 deserving graduating seniors on May 19th at their annual scholarship luncheon.
