Two local organizations and a Museum volunteer were singled out for special accolades at the Pasadena Museum of History’s Annual Meeting on January 31.
The Corporate Angel Award was presented to Jericho Road Pasadena which, under the direction of Melanie Goodyear, matches skilled individual volunteers with local nonprofits needing assistance in specific projects. Jericho Road volunteers have helped Pasadena Museum of History with numerous items requiring technical expertise, the most visible being development of the Museum’s new website, which reflects over 200 volunteer hours of professional-quality work.
The Lynne Emery Collections Ambassador Award was presented jointly to Kat Ward, publisher of the popular online journal Hometown Pasadena, and PMH Research Volunteer and author Julie Stires. This award is given to any volunteer, staff person, or community member who utilizes PMH’s collections to promote the Museum and make the public more aware of them. Stires has spent years cataloguing and studying Fenyes family history. Hometown Pasadena has provided her with a platform to tell the meticulously researched and engaging stories about Eva Scott Fenyes and her accomplishments in a monthly column, as well as spotlighting the work of other local historians in the “History Buff†section of the online publication.
