Food and music are both known to soothe the soul and they work even better in tandem. Bacchus’ Kitchen is a local restaurant that adds music to the menu.

October features a set of piano players including, Eric Reed on October 20th followed by Benny Green on October 22nd.

Claud Beltran of Bacchus’ Kitchen likes to match the menu to the musician for customers to get the total experience. “I usually get some kind of motivation or inspiration or ideas from the musicians for the menu of that night,” he said. He asks them asks them for their favorite food and then builds a one-of-a-kind prix-fixe menu around their recommendations. The music is interspersed with the menu; the band usually plays one set after the main course and the breaks for dessert before the final portion of the show.

“I love music and I just do it selfishly so that I can hear music,” he jokes. Beltran wants to make sure his customers get the chance to unwind when there is a live show because taking the time to listen to music is a special experience. “[It’s] a small intimate setting. We have amazing acoustics and I usually before the show, we’ll tell people let’s take two hours of your life without technology and your phone and conversation and just listen to an art form and relax and enjoy it, which nobody does anymore,” he explained.

Seating fills up fast because Beltran transforms the restaurant into a genuine music venue with a full grand piano. He suggests making reservations in advance.
