Nothing can be more inspiring than hearing stories from people who have dared to make themselves better and healthier.
Luisa Perkins, a mother of seven, took on Bikram Yoga Pasadena’s 60 Day Challenge, much to the amazement of her family, friends, and even Bikram Yoga owner Val Sklar Robinson.
“The idea of a 60-day challenge is that [you take] 60 classes in 60 days. It’s quite an experience that people don’t normally take on and I have to be honest, there’s really a variety of people [participating],” explains Robinson of the challenge.
“Luisa Perkins just started practicing yoga the month before the challenge started. So she literally went from her introductory month to doing the 60-day challenge. This is someone who has seven children,” exclaims Robinson.
“And a supportive family,” she adds.
Pre-challenge, Robinson sat down with Perkins to ask her the reason why she decided to take such a huge leap. “She said she thought it was really time to do something for herself.” That’s a sentiment a lot of us can probably relate to.
Perkins shares, “I have 7 kids. I’m a writer and I teach part time. I felt like my life was a bit out of control. My brother in law has been doing Bikram Yoga in Texas for a few years, and it took him from a type A stress case to be calmer and a more centered man who also lost 60 lbs. It was time for me to take control of my own health with my chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia,” says Perkins.
She blogged her 60-Day Challenge over at http://welshcorgidetermination.blogspot.com. And on April 29th, she proudly finished the challenge.
How did the challenge change her?
“I lost seven pounds. I lost an inch off my chest. I lost 4.5 inches off my waist and 1.25 inches off my hips.” She also reports that she “felt calmer, less anxious, and stronger to handle all [her] responsibilities.”
Of course, Robinson could not be happier about all of the positive changes her 60-Day Challenge had on Perkins and all of her other students.
