Art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. A spilled bag of confetti or collection of seemingly random objects, therefore, can be a work of art to the right eye. While those objects might seem like a bit of a stretch, anyone can agree- jewelry is the “art” of fashion.
So, are your “walls” looking a bit bare? Looking for some modern art to spiff up the place? Stop by OSKA this Saturday, October 11th between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for a special show by jewelry maker Michal Lando.
Her work combines two of her favorite materials- nylon mesh, which she uses for its “supple, dramatic,” qualities, and silver. “All of my pieces are handmade and many of them are one of a kind,” Lando gushes.
Each piece, from necklace to earring, is unapologetically modern but still somehow accessible to every woman. Lando varies textures across her collection, from rustic, hammered silver to the smooth, undulating lines of her nylon necklaces. Chunky gold and silver magnets serve as closures and pendants simultaneously.
Lando’s art, er, jewelry is only available on her website along with a handful of vendors (including a few modern art museums… coincidence?), so this event may be one of your only chances to browse her work in person.
After you’ve picked up your new statement necklace, why not stay a while and put together a whole outfit? OSKA offers equally modern and accessible styles for women of any age, from California fall friendly wool to classic white button downs.
Don’t miss your chance at owning one of Michal Lando’s designs this Saturday, October 11th- otherwise, you’ll be forced to browse for fakes on eBay.
OSKA is at 13 Douglas Alley in One Colorado, Pasadena. (626) 432-1729. www.Oska-pasadena.com
