Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Superintendent Jon R. Gundry will join PUSD Board President Renatta Cooper and Willard Principal Dr. Debra DeBose as well as students, faculty, parents and board members for a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the new kindergarten complex at Willard International Baccalaureate (IB) Elementary School Friday, February 7, 2014, at 8:00 a.m.

The ceremony marks the completion of 14 months of construction for the $2.9 million facility. The project was funded by Measure TT, the $350 million school bond initiative approved by voters in 2008. The project consists of an 8120 square foot addition to the existing campus built in 1925.

Within the addition there are four kindergarten classrooms, one pre-kindergarten classroom, two teacher prep rooms, an outdoor area that easily lends itself to become additional instructional space, a playground with slide and climbing apparatus, four swings, and a climbing structure.

The project was designed by Carmichael-Kemp Architects and built by The Nazerian Group. A tour of the facility will follow the ceremony that is open to members of the public.
