“Some things in our restaurant are more obvious than others. However, the dedication to excellence and elegance is unmistakably expressed in everything we do. In a restaurant committed to the maximum, that while a good meal is simply food; a great meal is an inspiration!” — Ann Colombo, Owner and Operator of Colombo’s
Since 1954, Colombo’s has been serving Los Angeles with prime Italian American cuisine and legendary drinks. But the “Melting Pot of Eagle Rock,” as the restaurant is also known, offers more than just good food and drinks. Every week, Colombo’s features live jazz entertainment from some of the best jazz performers in the area.
Tuesdays, discover the music of Tom Armbruster, jazz pianist and vocalist. A graduate of the Duquesne University School of Music, Armbruster has written and released over 50 songs for various projects that include Mickey Mouse, Kermit the Frog, Ren & Stimpy, and the Rainbow Fish. Currently planning the release of his own CD of original vocal jazz songs, Armbruster is one musician to look out for in the near future.
Wednesdays, Jimmy Spencer and Karen Hernandez take on Colombo’s stage to entertain customers with over 30 years of experience playing jazz. A well-matched team of talents, whose chemistry can only be described as “familial,” Jimmy Spencer and Karen Hernandez, seem to read each other’s minds and blend perfectly together. This is must-watch for jazz lovers.
Thursdays feature the Rio Fiumara Jazz Quartet. A regular at Colombo’s for about 10 years now, the Quartet plays a variety of old standards in a traditional jazz sense.
Sundays, Colombo’s plays host to the Eric Ekstrand Trio. Composed of Eric Ekstrand on piano and vocals, Leslie Baker on bass, and Frank Wilson on drums, the Trio brings a fresh approach to Jazz and Blues, apply new twists to old standards, and add roots to original compositions. The Trio’s music has been described as intriguing and invigorating, without being stuffy or snobbish. In a word: fun!
