Explore USC Pacific Asia Museum’s 15,000 pieces of collections spanning more than 4,000 years during a docent-led tour on Saturday, August 16, at 1:00 p.m.
The docents will highlight some of the museum’s best collections from Persia to the Pacific Islands , and showcase galleries which include the Art of Pacific Asia, Japanese, Snukal Ceramics, Journeys: The Silk Road, South and Southeast Asian, Himalayan and Korean.
Those who cannot attend Saturday’s tour can form a group of 10 to reserve a docent-led tour with advance notice of at least four weeks. Visitors can also enjoy docent-led tours without being part of an organized group.
Middle-school and upper-school student groups are offered free docent-led tours paired with a hands-on workshop where students can create their own work of art inspired by their visit.
USC Pacific Asia Museum encourages students to return to the museum by giving free family passes to all school tour participants. One pass allows free admission for up to six people.
In case no docents are available, visitors can also learn about the exhibitions through the audio tours wherein information will be given to the patrons through their own cell phones. The audio tour features insight from the artists and curators, as well as original poetry inspired by the art and architecture of the museum.
The Saturday tour comes free with the admission.
